The Idris Elba directed feature film Yardie looks like it’s going to be a gritty punch-in-the gut tale of revenge. Starring Aml Ameen as D, a young Jamaican sent to London in the 80’s after the murder of his older brother, the film looks to be in part a homage to both Kingston and Hackney with their vibrant music and culture, while also an explosive gangster film as D runs into his brother’s killers and fights for retribution (watch for a blink and you’ll miss it shot of This Is England‘s Stephen Graham as violent gangster Rico).
