When We Were Knights is a documentary built around the tragic death of BASE jumper Ian Flanders, and the effect the accident had on his best friend and climbing partner Matt Blank. Blank had actually prepared for the eventually of his own death due to the sport and had written letters to all of his friends and family in case it happened, he had just never expected his friend to go first. It’s a heartbreaking film that uses incredible GoPro footage of the duo in action as well as emotional interviews with Blank, but ultimately the film is a life-affirming look at how people can deal with tragic situations in a positive manner.
