This surreal short film/advert from Vogue China compares the traits of two lovers by using butterflies as references, and features stunning visuals set to poetry.

Described as a “visual poem”, we see two models being compared to different butterflies – one is shy and retiring, the other loud and confident. When put together, they become the name of the film, a Death Head Sphinx. The visuals are created in a lush garden and beautiful pagoda, combining Super 8 footage with a grainy, vintage feel along with high definition shots that even end up using a CGI head on fire to make a “moth to the flame” reference.
