The BBC released this dark trailer for their new version of the classic novel A Christmas Carol. This one looks a bit scarier than The Muppets version…

The new mini-series was written by Steven Knight, who was the man behind Peaky Blinders and Taboo. If those shows are anything to go by then this new series will be very interesting indeed. It’s got an all-star cast as well, featuring Andy Serkis, Stephen Graham and Tom Hardy. It’s not yet been revealed what role Hardy will take on yet, so keep an eye out for a surprise appearance from the actor.

The new mini series promises viewers a far grittier version of the classic christmas tale. Over the years, the story has been slightly sanitised compared to Dickens’ original novel. The character of Tiny Tim was influenced by the crippling poverty Dickens’ himself experienced as a child and also saw around him everyday in Victorian era Britain. This series looks to give a more realistic look at the era and the story that we all know today.
