This short film reimagines the 90’s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel Air as a modern drama. It re-examines a lot of the themes of the show, from Will’s gritty Philly upbringing to the class divide felt in affluent LA.

Focusing on the struggles faced by black people in America, we see Will’s experience of LA flipped on its head. We get a much deeper look into the real struggles that Will’s character would’ve faced.

At the time, “Fresh Prince” helped bring black actors into the mainstream and formed a big part of the cultural movement that would help end years of social segregation between races in America. This short film does an amazing job of paying homage to the original, whilst also reminding us of the issues faced by black people in America in the 1990’s as well as the issues they still face today.
