2020 was a wild year. That much is obvious. But what did it look like around the world? Director Kevin MacDonald has released a feature-length user-generated documentary titled Life in a Day 2020 which shows us  a snapshot of what life was like over the course of a single day.

The original Life in a Day was created back in 2010 and premiered on YouTube. It’s essentially a supercut of home videos from people all around the world. The request from the filmmakers was simple: video your life, however mundane, over 24 hours and send us the footage.

The original Life in a Day was emotional, poignant, and absolutely fascinating. This new film tries to replicate the same success, but this time it is naturally dominated by the pandemic and many people staying in their homes.

Whether you prefer it to the original or not, it’s an eye-opening insight into global cultures in 2020 and will make you laugh and cry at the same time.
