Barbour released this animated ad to mark 125 years since they were first founded. It’s animated by artist Raymond Briggs, who’s the man behind the iconic cartoon characters Father Christmas and The Snowman.

In the advert, we see Father Christmas putting on his old Barbour jacket, ready to deliver all the presents around the world on Christmas Eve. He remembers back to when he first got the jacket, way back in 1894 as a gift from Mrs Claus. It’s served him well all these years, even if it has got a few scratches and patches added to it over time.

He casts his mind back to all the times that he’s nicked his jacket on things. He tripped over a phone wire in the 1930s, slipped on a carpet in the 60s and stumbled over whilst trying to turn off a rogue Amazon Alexa in the 2010s. But, despite all of these little knocks, his jacket is still in good condition, even after 125 years of use. It’s a charming ad from Barbour that brings a christmas icon back on to our screens.
