Volkswagen released this moving short film called The Last Mile, which says goodbye to their iconic Beetle car.

The Beetle was one of the most well-known cars of the 20th century. Famed for its unique look, compact size and durability, the car became a pop culture mainstay. It’s legacy spanned generations as it remained a go-to car for decades after its initial release.

But as Volkswagen begin the 2020s, they’re having to leave the Beetle behind. Despite being an excellent vehicle, like many cars of its generation, it’s a big emitter of CO2. Volkswagen have pledged to drastically reduce their carbon emissions and want to create cars that are much greener. Although the Beetle was a huge part of their past, it won’t be a part of their future. To thank the plucky four wheeler, the company gave us this charming short film that reminds us of just how important that car was. It’ll always have a special place in many people’s hearts, even if it’s no longer the innovative machine that it once was. Thanks for the memories…
