American figure skater Ashley Wagner was considered to be a shoe-in for the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, but her dreams were cut short when she came 4th in the qualifiers to go to Korea. This short film by Vogue acts as an exploration in how she dealt with the crushing disappointment of not qualifying, and what it is that drives her in the first place when it comes to figure skating. Featuring shots of Wagner in action on the ice as well as some of the most glittery outfits you’ll ever see, Showpony is a personal look into how competing at such a high level can have such an emotional effect on sports personalities.
