Virgil Abloh mixes the street style of Chicago and the high-end feel of Paris in this ad for the Off-White Jordan collaboration.

The designer has been credited with bringing street style to the catwalk. He’s always believed that the fashion he grew up around should have a place alongside fancy, legacy brands. In this video, he tells us how he drew just as much inspiration from looking at basketball players on the court as he did looking at other designers and labels. Air Jordans have blurred the lines between fashion, performance and sport. They’ve become a cultural icon and Virgil says that this collaboration will take things to the next level.

The cities of Chicago and Paris are used as visual metaphors to represent the way the Virgil is mixing the world of fashion in with brands like Jordan. Seeing the bustling streets contrasted with quiet shots of the Eiffel Tower gives us a hint on what we can expect from the collab. We should see a combination of the raw and rugged look of Jordan with the sleek style of Off-White.
