This is a heartbreaking video from Unicef. It doesn’t need a lengthy voiceover or emotional music to explain what’s happening. This remarkable short film shows how children are affected by domestic violence.

The film is shot in a unique way. It’s in square format to start with, and shows just hints of images and suggestions of things happening on frame.

There is no actual physical violence throughout the two minutes. But the tone, the editing, the visuals that surround  the events tell all. The closing door. The shuddering chandelier. The muffled sounds from the next room.

It’s a heartbreaking short film that is brilliantly executed. We hope it works to bring awareness to Unicef and how violence affects children.
