People in the UK have been told to stay indoors as part of a nationwide lockdown. Many are happy to comply for the greater good of the nation, but lots of people are struggling with the impact that it’s having on their everyday lives.
Although many of us have been trying to look on the bright side of things, it’s also worth remembering that not everyone is able to make the best of a bad situation. In this documentary, Vice drive to interviewees’ houses and film them from the outside, giving their views on the lockdown. Vice used the innovative technique of recording the audio through speaking to them on the phone, whilst filming the interviewees from their cars. We’ve seen plenty of examples of journalists speaking to people via video chat during the Coronavirus outbreak, but this doc shows us a unique way of creating interesting journalism whilst still respecting social distancing measures.
It’s an great video from Vice and it shows how film makers can still tell the stories that need to be told, even if they can’t speak to people face-to-face.
