The Peace Collective take the divisive “Make America Great Again” hats and turn them into something beautiful. The red hats created and (sported by) Donald Trump are often characterised as a symbol of hate and ignorance.
For people from immigrant background, the message of the hat is clear: you are not welcome. In a stark contrast, neighbouring Canada has gone in a different direction to America, taking in more immigrants than ever before.
So, the peace collective decided to take out of the stitching of the MAGA hats, and restitched them so they read: “Welcome to Canada.”. This charming video reminds us about how hope is stronger than hate and that the world needs to more inclusive and welcoming, not nativist and hostile.
