Legendary skater Tony Hawk goes through the 21 levels of difficulty in skateboarding in this awesome interview with Wired.

Skating always looks impressive. For people who can’t do it, it’s really cool to see a pro in action. But what is actually going on? What goes into a skate trick and how hard is it? In this video Tony takes us right from the humble ollie all the way up to extremely difficult and dangerous tricks. In fact, he even tells us about some tricks that are theoretically possible, but have never even been done because they’re so hard. Tony admits that even he can’t do some of the most difficult tricks, despite being a seasoned pro and one of the best skaters of all time.

What’s even cooler is that he gives us a really understandable and clear description of exactly what’s happening with each trick he tells us about. Skateboarding is one of the most tricky and precise pastimes out there but often doesn’t get the respect it deserves. With this video, even fans of skating will get a new insight into the incredible skills that skaters have to have to pull off serious tricks.
