Tom Hanks could be slowly dissolving our mothers in acid in front of us and we would still let him explain himself before we began to protest – he can do that sort of thing because he is widely regarded as the nicest man on the planet. In his submission for Vanity Fair’s Secret Talent Theatre series, in which celebrities show off one of their hidden talents (Gal Gadot hula-hooping is also a good watch), Hanks demonstrates for us how to change the ribbon on a typewriter. Hanks is a well-known typewriter collector so it would be weird if he didn’t know how to do this, and while this might not be a skill you’ll necessarily need these days, we’d be quite happy to listen to Hanks read out the Argos catalogue so this is all fine.
