One of the most powerful short films in years, Thunder Road is funny and heartbreaking in equal measure. Written, directed and acted by Jim Cummings, the film is a one-shot monologue of a police officer making a speech at his mother’s funeral. It’s basically a full mental-breakdown culminating in a dance routine to Bruce Springsteen, but it’s an incredible performance from Cummings and one that will stick with you for a long time.
