Britain has some of the prettiest currency in the world and this month the country is adding the updated 20 pound note into circulation. In this video, we get to see all of the hidden features on the note.
The biggest change is the switch to polymer. It’s the latest plastic addition to UK money. It makes it much much harder to fake and is far more durable as well. J.M.W Turner adorns the back of the new 20 and, of course, The Queen sits on the reverse side. One cool feature is that the image of Turner is actually an old-school selfie, as the painting is a self-portrait.
We learn about all the different landmarks and sights that are put on the note. It features Margate Tower, Trafalgar Square and the Turner Contemporary Art Gallery, as well as Buckingham Palace which is on the 5, 10 and 50 as well. One of the coolest things that’s pointed out is all the times that the number 20 is actually printed on it. Look closely and you’ll see it everywhere. Banknotes often include ridiculously intricate details like this so that they’re incredibly difficult for forgers to copy accurately.
