Netflix and Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes released this trailer for a new series that’ll look at the fiery origins of the sport of Association Football.

Football was invented in Britain in the late 19th century by working class men in the factories. It was a simpler offshoot of rugby. The sport was focused on simplicity, no expensive equipment was required, you just needed a ball, a pitch and two sets of posts. But it wasn’t as simple as that to set up a professional league. Many workers at the time were more worried about their wages than winning games. Factor in local rivalries and a deliberate attempt from the upper-classes to sabotage the pastime and you’ve got a recipe for a pretty tumultuous situation.
