NOWNESS explores the empty streets of Wuhan, the first city in the world to be put into total lockdown following the outbreak of Covid-19.

Since the start of the crisis, more and more cities have told their citizens to stay indoors and avoid social contact. Nowhere though has this been more strictly enforced by the first place to have cases, in the massive Chinese city of Wuhan. For weeks now, people haven’t been able to leave their houses, other than to get food and essentials. The city has a population that’s millions more than London, but for now the whole place is a ghost town.

In this doc, we’re shown the empty motorways, sidewalks and restaurants. Whilst that’s playing, we hear stories from the residents who live here about what life is like under quarantine. A lot of them say that it’s pretty tough, but that they’re finding ways to cope. On a optimistic note, the video ends by people telling us where they will go and who they will see once this is all over. It’s touching to hear the little things that matter the most for people in this situation.
