BBC Three meet up with director Matt Walker to find out the secrets to making a hit Hip Hop music video.

Matt has worked with some of the biggest names in the UK Hip Hop and Grime scene. Stormzy, Dizzee Rascal and Skepta have all had vids produced by Matt in the past. He’s known for his unique style and his videos have been praised for being some of the coolest-looking in the game. Matt says that he was first inspired by the crazy videos by artists like Busta Rhymes. After seeing the music video for the song Gimme Some More, he was inspired to get into directing himself.

He tells us his creative process when it comes to making a music video. He says that he’ll listen to a song hundreds of times over. After that, he’ll pick out one theme or idea from the lyrics and base the video around that. It’s really interesting to see how he comes up with the music videos and where he gets his inspiration from.
