This beautiful ad called “The Inner Drive” tells the story of the Mini Cooper by using shadows. It’s an inventive way to tell a unique tale.

It shows us how 60 years ago, Englishman Alec Issigonis decided to create a car like no other. A titchy car that had fuel efficiency and comfort at its heart. He wanted to make a vehicle that put the fun back into driving and captures his love for getting around on four wheels. At first, the idea didn’t take off, but over time, the Mini became one of the most enduring symbols of car culture and spawned die-hard fans around the world.

The life of the inventor of the Mini is brought to life in this stunning short film. The team here used the help of illustrator Virginia Mori and artist Virgilio Villoresi. It’s amazing to think that the whole video is just simple illustrations and light being shone on a page. It’s a brilliantly inventive piece of work from Mini. This has to be one of the best ads that we’ve seen in a while.
