College American football player Taquarius Wair, also known as TQ, defied all expectations to become a rising star in sport, despite his life changing injuries he received after being trapped in a burning house.

When he was a child TQ was at home when his house caught on fire. It spread quickly and TQ struggled to escape. TQ and his brother did manage to get out in the end, but TQ was severely burnt. Tragically, his 6 year old sister died in the blaze. He had to have countless surgical procedures, but even after all that, he was still left with life-changing burns. His face and body was extremely scarred and a portion of his left hand had to be amputated.

In this documentary from ESPN, we hear how TQ defied all odds and went on to become a talented American football player. He’s recently started college and has become the star of his university’s football team. Sports pros tip TQ to do well in the future, as he’s one of the best young players around at the moment. TQ’s story is incredibly inspiring and shows us how much we can achieve if we’re determined and passionate enough.
