VICE follows two artists as they create beautiful murals in Brooklyn, all whilst dodging the long arm of the law.

Duo Menace Two and Resa Piece, known collectively as Menceresa, have made it their mission to liven up the dingy streets of inner city New York. They work as a team. One of them will create intricate graffiti tags at the bottom of a wall whilst the other will paint large street art works on top. Their aim is to make dilapidated areas look nicer and provide people there with great art, for free.

What they do is illegal, but many police officers turn a blind eye. Sometimes it’s out of respect for what they do, other times they see policing graffiti artists as a futile endeavour. What sets these guys apart though is their friendly approach. Although they don’t ask for permission, if the owner of the building asks them to stop they do so. They describe what the finished article will look like, which sometimes convinces the owner to let them continue. It’s a really interesting doc that takes us inside a creative underground movement.
