The film is set in the 1970s and follows the story of a group of women who look to shine a light on the sexism seen in the “Miss World” competition. Although the competition is still going on to this day, it has been frequently criticised throughout its history for being sexist, misogynistic and oppressive to women. It looks to determine who is the best looking woman in the world. But the scope of what is “good-looking” is pretty small. It basically just means thin, western women.

But it also reminds us of the issues that we still face today. In the era of #MeToo, this trailer feels more relevant than ever.
