80s synth pop group The Pet Shop Boys are back with a bang. They brought us this glossy music video for their funky new single “Monkey Business”.
In it, we’re taken inside a flashy nightspot where there are all kinds of different punters who’re all dressed in strange outfits. There’s a group of sailors, a few drag queens and a Freddie Mercury lookalike. It’s over-the-top in true Pet Shop Boys style. Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe are dressed super stylishly. Neil’s decked out on a bright, white pinstripe suit, whilst Chris characteristically hangs out in the background wearing a blue tracksuit with a massive top hat on his head.
The vid ends with everyone in the club taking part in a big dance routine. It’s a cool music video that brings the awesome style of the band into the 2020s. It shows that the guys have still got it, even 36 years after their smash hit West End Girls was released. We’d love to see a bit of old-school Go West CGI here too though. Maybe we’re the only ones…
