Art Insider meets the man who creates creepily realistic versions of famous cartoon characters from TV. Miguel Vasquez creates hyper-realistic versions of Homer Simpson, Kermit the Frog and Spongebob Squarepants and many more.

He was inspired by the FX artists who recreate classic horror movie monsters like Nosferatu and Frankenstein. He wanted to take something that we’re all familiar with and turn it into something much creepier. The piece that he’s most proud of is his creepy version of Homer Simpson. We know that the proportions of cartoons characters are often a little skewed, but Miguel brought that idea to life in a terrifying way!

Taking Homer’s proportions into the real world proved to be a horrible idea, as anyone who’s seen the image will tell you! You’ve got to give it to Miguel though, he’s an amazing artist. But we’ll never look at our favourite cartoon characters in the same way ever again after seeing his work! Our childhood is ruined!
