British newspaper The Guardian explore the topic of masculinity in this moving documentary. They ask male celebrities from a range of backgrounds the question: “what makes a man?”.

They interview journalist Jon Snow, reality star Jack Fowler, Rapper D Double E and other well-known male celebrities to get a clearer idea of what modern masculinity looks like. The interviewees represent a wide range of economic backgrounds, eras and sexualities. They offer up a great range of different answers to the big questions faced by men in Britain today.

Each of them discuss ideas around what it means to be a man. They touch on issues surrounding aggression and dominance. The interviews also touch on the theme of male role models and the ideas that they tend to represent. They also discuss their own relationships with their fathers and how it affected their own worldview. It’s a brilliant documentary that shines a light on issues lots of men aren’t willing to talk about publicly.
