The Football Association and Prince William talk about mental health in this moving campaign film.

In it, we see players from various clubs looking at the camera with a black and white filter as Prince William talks about issues that footballers and fans can have. Even though players seem to live the most amazing lives, they can also have big mental health struggles like the rest of us. Tottenham left back Danny Rose has spoken out about his depression over the past few years and brought to light some of the pressures that modern footballers face.

The video ends by telling fans to use services on the NHS site that can help them to improve their mental health. It’ll play before the start of every FA Cup game this season. Football fans can often be secretive about how they are really feeling and this ad encourages them to open up to others. It can be difficult seeing your team lose and sometimes it can make you feel pretty rotten, but this promo reminds us that it’s OK not to be OK.
