And now, the most Australian thing to have ever happened – the video for Smoko by The Chats. Rocking a ginger mullet and a lovely pair of shorts, the lead singer tells us several tales of being told to leave people alone because they’re on a break, or “smoko” if you will. The video feels like something ripped straight from the 80’s and you’d be forgiven for thinking this was just a joke to begin with, but this might actually be the best punk song released this decade – the ripping bassline, angsty lyrics and a chorus that you’ll be chanting for the rest of your life… Why isn’t this the Australian national anthem?
