The BBC released this short clip from the classic show The Thick Of It to encourage people to stay home. Just a quick warning, the video is quite sweary, so make sure there are no kids around when you click play.

The show was about the madness that goes on behind closed doors in politics. In this scene, we see the demonic spin doctor Malcom Tucker blast into an office, telling all the staff to stay exactly where they are. After someone from that department had a serious media gaffe, he orders everyone present to lock down, so that they can manage the press waiting outside. For Malcom to work his magic (or evil, depending on who you ask) he needs everyone to stay put and not leave the office. Sound familiar?

We say ask, he tells everyone to stay put with lots of expletives. The video ends by the BBC asking us on a serious note to stay in to stop the spread of Covid-19. It’s part of a short ad series from the Beeb where they’ve come up with inventive and entertaining ways to remind people to stay indoors as much as they can.
