Textless is an interesting short film by Gareth Smith and Jenny Lee that shows us a world where all signs stop working properly.

We’re not talking about fancy, flashy electric billboards here, we’re talking about good old fashioned motel, shop and road signs. In this film, all the letters on various signs suddenly collapse, as if something was holding them up beforehand. In some cases, they even disappear down a hidden hole, never to be seen again. It’s a trippy video and can be a little confusing to watch at times. It’s like nothing we’ve ever seen before.

It’s an incredibly clever short film. It uses a mix of 3D animation, camera tricks and real shots of signs to create a seamless effect. You’ll be rewatching it over and over to work out just how they managed to do it. The directing duo specialise in offbeat and surreal short films. This has to be one of the most interesting ones that they’ve done yet. Did you enjoy it? Let us know what you thought of it down in the comments.
