Mercedes-Benz teamed up with the studio behind the film Avatar to create this futuristic looking concept car.

In this video, we get to see the vehicle up close. It has a sleek, grey exterior and plush white seating on the inside. There’s no steering wheel (a nod to the driverless future ahead) and the dashboard is dominated by a large screen. One of the coolest features we see are the “scales” on the back of the car, which moves and reacts to the drivers movements. The car also has a small control panel where the gearstick would normally be that breathes in an out like a living animal.

The car is inspired by the Avatar movie. It’s been 10 years since the first film came out, but director James Cameron is revisiting the series and plans to turn it into a large franchise on the scale of something like Star Wars. It’s a slightly unusual way to promote a film that’s not even out yet, but we’ve got to say, we’re pretty impressed with this effort from Mercedes. This has to be one of the best concept cars we’ve that ever seen.
