Liverpool FC sponsors Standard Chartered made this moving ad where they show us the Reds’ epic rise to the top of English football.

In the film, we follow a young Liverpool fan through her life. She’s been a supporter since she was a kid and we see the highs and lows of the team told from her perspective. We see her idolising captain Steven Gerrard in her youth, but then see her looking downtrodden for some time as her team struggles in the Premier League. From 2009 to 2013, the Reds failed to finish above 5th place on the table. The period was considered one of the worst in their history. On top of that, they also saw iconic players like Fernando Torres, Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho leave the club during that time.

But since the appointment of Jurgen Klopp a few years ago, the team has been able to dominate English and European football once again. In the ad, we see the girl preparing to watch them play in the Champions League Final. They won that game and lifted the trophy for the first time in over a decade. It’s been a wild decade for Liverpool and seeing it through a young fans eyes is really interesting.
