Spotify create a record shop like no other in this awesome short film.
There have been some really cool and really iconic album covers over the years. From Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club and The Dark Side Of The Moon to Nevermind and Back To Black there have been tons of incredible covers over the years. But the way that artists display their albums hasn’t changed in decades. So Spotify decided that it was time to re-invent the idea of covers for 2019.
They took over the Canvas Record store in Austin, Texas and filled it with albums that had moving covers. The covers contained moving images that reflected the feel of the albums and showed the viewer what they were about. Spotify recently launched their Canvas project, where artists can put up a short, moving version of their album artwork in the Spotify app that plays when someone listens to their album. It’s an innovative way of looking at the relationship between music and visuals. Could this idea kickstart a revival in awesome artwork? Only time will tell.
