LA-based marijuana company MedMen have drafted in acclaimed director Spike Jonze to direct the first ever cannabis-dispensary TV commercial, and it’s an artfully shot history of weed that looks towards the future.


Presented as a series of museum exhibits, the advert takes us from the early days of America’s relationship with the plant, through the tumultuous years of prohibition and illegality. The advert highlights how the end of marijuana’s stigmatisation in various states around the country shows the end is in sight, and highlights how the medical use of services like MedMen’s for people around the country is becoming ‘The New Normal.’
