This short animation by motion graphics and 3D artist Chris Cousins is a satirical comment on the effects of social media and the ways in which it can hook people in through likes, comments, retweets and a never-ending stream of content. The short is a tour of a weird social-media production line, showing bottles full of Instagram likes being churned out, lines of a suspicious white substance representing Youtube being slashed out on a conveyor belt and whole pills full of likes and retweets. The results of the production are packed into boxes with a stupidly long list of side effects, presumably to be sent out and devoured by the consumers (he’s talking about us guys…). It’s a clever and Black Mirror-esque take on the landscape of social media today, and the cold, harsh machinery is beautifully realised in 3D to give a sense of reality to the whole video.
