Here’s an idea that’s been around for a while but never done quite right – the concept of a “screen” film has been doing the rounds since the early days of the internet, mainly in the form of those really naff chat-based “horror” stories. However, the upcoming feature film Searching could be the first film in this format to actually pull it off in an interesting and gripping way. The film centres around a father who is searching for answers to his daughter’s disappearance, and follows him through his antics on his computer as he pieces together the puzzle from social media, news articles and through talking to her friends. The film won several awards at this year’s Sundance Festival and is receiving some incredibly positive reviews, so maybe this will be the first real screen-thriller we’ll be treated to…
