Peter Tatchell the LGBT+ activist came up with a funny yet eye-opening way to urge governments to allow gay men to donate blood through this hidden-camera video titled Screen the blood, not the sexuality. In the video, a security guard is seen blocking people’s entry to a blood donation centre, claiming they have to be scanned by his “Gaydr” before they are allowed to donate. Obviously confused as to why this should matter, the men involved get pretty irate, especially when the resulting scan informs them they are “85% gay”. While the video is a funny watch, it highlights the discriminatory nature of blood services, and points out that at a time when blood shortages are so common anyone and everyone should be allowed to help in any way they can.
