American rock band Eels take us on a dark animated adventure in the music video for their new track You Are The Shining Light. It’s a beautifully dark animation that is accompanied by some brilliant music!

The band took some inspiration from the famous Pink Floyd video for the track Brick In The Wall. The way the miners in the vid are designed as well as the way they move reminds us of the iconic walking hammers in the Floyd video. It’s an amazing homage to one of the most pioneering videos in rock history.

The world presented in this animation is a bleak dystopia, where miners dig endlessly for some unknown treasure. One of them is distracted by a bright shining light which leads him to a huge ball of energy. He jumps into the ball, causing a huge explosion. Quite what happens to him is unclear, but afterwards, the miners just carry on digging, like nothing has happened, implying that things probably just stayed the same…
