Q-Tip, Little Simz and Idris Elba star in the James BKS music video for his track New Breed.

The video is animated in the same style of old Hanna-Barbera cartoons like Scooby-Doo and Wacky Races. It starts with Q-Tip emerging from a shop in New York as he raps an incredibly witty and clever opening verse. He shows us around his vibrant neighbourhood as James BKS looks down from a spaceship above.

Next up, Idris shows off his rapping skills when he fires off his verse. He’s instantly recognisable as his animated self and is even wearing his iconic red fisherman’s hat. Finally, we see Little Simz deliver her verse whilst taking a trip on the New York subway. As she raps, her surroundings fluctuate between boring shades of grey to bright African colours and patterns. It’s a vid that celebrates the best bits of New York as well as the African influence on the city and it’s artists. Each of the verses in this song reveals how all of the rappers have been influenced by the continent and its countries.
