Pat Quinn is one of the founders of the famous ice-bucket challenge, the viral sensation that raised millions for research into ALS, the motor neurone disease that Quinn himself is suffering from. Three years later, and Quinn’s condition has advanced to the point where he is unable to speak, and communicates through a computer that talks for him. This emotional video shows how through breakthroughs in voice-technology, an organisation called Project Revoice were able to analyse past recordings of Quinn’s public speeches and talks to recreate his voice in his computer, allowing him to finally talk as himself again rather than through the robotic voice he previously had.
