The BBC get Prince William and Premier League footballers together to talk about mental health. They discuss how tough it can be to play the game at the highest level of professional football.

Current football managers and player Gareth Southgate and Danny Rose and ex-players Thierry Henry, Peter Crouch and Jermaine Jenas chat about the pressures of being a pro footballer. Losing games can have a big impact on your mental health and having long periods away from the game due to injury can also be really tough.

Danny Rose, who plays left-back for Tottenham Hotspur, spoke out about his troubles with depression just before last summer’s 2018 World Cup. He saw an outpouring of support and received heaps of praise for speaking out about an often ignored, awkward and often forgotten issue. Hearing all of these people chat about mental health and the struggles faced by athletes is incredibly interesting and reminds us that even the people at the very top can have issues with mental health as well.
