Patagonia join splitboarder Nicholas Wolken as he traverses some stunning Swiss mountains in the short film Turn Of Mind.

Splitboarding is a type of snowboarding where you can break apart the board to form two skis. This means that you can trek up mountains and then snowboard back down them. It’s best for people who love the challenge of a good climb, but want to ensure that they have the most fun possible on the way down.

In this short film, we see Nicholas racing down the mountain face with exceptional skill. It’s a beautiful ski spot that’s totally deserted. In this tranquil setting, Nicholas muses on ideas around climate protection and the environment. Out here, he feels extremely close to nature and being here makes him want to come up with new ways of tackling the climate crisis. Interestingly, he says that it’s not just about science and economics, it’s also about philosophy. He says that we’ll have to fundamentally re-assess our mental relationship with our planet if we want to sort things out before it’s too late.
