Patagonia meets the climate activist and skier Lauren MacCallum who’s trying to save the slopes in the snowy Scottish highlands from extinction.
Britain isn’t exactly known for being a skiing paradise, but if you go high up into the Scottish mountains, you can find some pretty decent powder. Lauren has been skiing up here for years and loves the area and the stunning landscape. But climate change is causing odd and strange weather patterns here. Usually, it snows pretty consistently, making it an ideal ski spot. But in recent years, the weather has been far more unpredictable. Sometimes, there’s been hardly any snow at all. This is making it a really unattractive place for skiers to visit.
Lauren wanted to try and do something about this before it was too late. She’s been going around the country, trying to raise awareness about the issue and drum up support so that Scotland can help to solve the climate crisis once and for all. It’s a brilliant doc that shows us the power that individual activism can have.
