When soil microbiologist Laura Jennings finished her PhD, the pandemic meant that she was unable to experience the traditional closure of a graduation ceremony.
So she decided to create her own closing ceremony, and to honour her Indigenous community and the scientists who supported her through her work.
Laura chose to run 50 miles, marking an Indigenous tradition of running as a communal experience rather than an independent mission.
She documents her experience in this video made with Patagonia, and it’s a really moving exploration of how meditative and community-affirming running can be.
