Ok Go’s video for The One Moment was made using super slow motion shots of things exploding, smashing and dropping in time to the music. In this video, lead singer Damian Kulash explains the insane amount of maths that went into perfecting these shots so that they could match the musical beats of the song to the actions on screen. Breaking down one shot of balls full of paint dropping onto podiums, he talks us through the way they calculated time in relation to frames per second, matched to the time between each ball being released, and it’s all pretty mind-blowing – just looking at the spreadsheet he produced gave us a headache, so imagine how the production staff must have felt…
