Ocean52 take us to the year 2052 in this moving short film. We join a group of surfers, who are looking for the perfect spot to catch a good wave.

At the best of times, it can be tricky to find an ideal surfing spot. Eager for adventure, the group load up a map display on the interactive windscreen of their car. They run through a few of their favourite spots, but each time they realise that they’re just too polluted with plastic to be safe to surf in.

Worse still, even the surf spots that aren’t ridden with old plastic bottles have thousands of fragments of micro-plastics. Accidentally swallowing these can cause serious health issues and even death. The film demonstrates the severity of the issue and shows us just how much worse things will be in the future. The film is set in 2052, because scientists predict that if we don’t do anything now, that’s the year where there will be more plastic than fish in our oceans.
