This short animation accompanies an excerpt from NPR’s Invisibilia programme, which explores and tells stories through science. The bizarre short tells the tale of a woman called Karen and her experiences with “alien hand syndrome”, a condition that causes a person’s hand to move and do actions completely outside of the person’s control. Giant Ant studios, who were approached by NPR to animate the story, say they created a disjointed and unpredictable animation style to match the uncertainty of Karen’s affliction.
