Russian rapper Noize MC made this futuristic music video for his new track Honour The Elders.

The video takes place in a bleak cityscape as a group of young people race around, graffitiing walls and buildings. But rather than writing offensive phrases and words, they reference important Eastern philosophers, writers and artists from history in their graffiti. The lyrics talk about the importance of paying respect to creatives from previous eras and incorporating ideas from the past into the present.

The video blends animation with live-action, giving the whole thing a totally unique look. At times, the video even descends into full animation. The trippy and disorientating art style melds well with Noize MC’s rapid lyrical delivery. It’s a mile-a-minute vid that captures the urgency and tempo of the song perfectly. The song itself also features excerpts of speeches from some of the authors and thinkers that they mention in the song. The mood of the track feels very rebellious, but it’s not an anthem against conventional wisdom and actually champions lots of older ideas.
