Nike made this promo for their new swimwear range that includes a watertight hijab.

The hijab is a head covering worn by Muslim women as part of their religion. Although many versions of the hijab have been made for other sports, the swimming world has lagged behind. Availability has been a big issue, as some big brands have been slow to introduce dedicated swimwear for Muslim women. Some of the options that were available to them could be quite heavy in the water and restrict movement. Nike look to change all of that with this new collection.

In this video, we hear from a group of young Muslim swimmers and hear their thoughts on the new swimwear outfit. They’re all thrilled to try it out and are pleased that a brand like Nike are listening to the issues that they face when it comes to getting suitable swimwear. A handful of prominent female Muslim athletes have actually complained to Nike about the sports Hijabs that they offer, so to see Nike step up and provide them with the best kit available is really nice to see.
